Official Statement from the Executive Office of the President of the Student Association
EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
December 11th, 2022
The Executive Office of the President of the Student Association (“The President”) issues the following statement regarding the Senate Committee on Financial Services and Allocations“The Finance Committee” :
“Over the past month the leadership of the Finance Committee failed in meeting
their responsibilities to provide fair and ethical financial leadership to the Student
Association.
“They have consolidated power in the Legislative Budget Office and the
Chairperson of the Finance committee, and limited real deliberation only to those bodies. They have given senators on the committee an embarrassingly small 45 minutes to debate an allocation of a $350,000 budget prepared by, and only by the LBO. They have denied necessary executive branch regulators from accessing the allocation process and disinvited them from meetings. Indeed, they have lost the faith of the students of The George Washington University. They fumbled the finances, and we all suffered for it. What’s more is that they don’t want you to know about it.
“When I sent a legal survey to all heads of student organizations to learn the extent
to which they had been harmed, I was told that I will be sued in Student Court. Let there be no mistake -- this is an active attempt to suppress your ability to have your voice heard and input taken in the SA financial process.
“This is not the normal process by which any organization should operate. I have
directed my team to do all that is within their power to root out bad actors, and to make
efforts to build a more equitable financial process. No baseless S.L.A.P.P suit, no bureaucrat, and no intimidation will cause us to back down.”

CHRISTIAN ZIDOUEMBA
