Learn more about President Fitzgerald

Ethan Fitzgerald is the President of The George Washington University Student Government Association for the 2024-2025 school year.

Fitzgerald is an undergraduate junior from San Diego, pursuing a double major in Political Science & Organizational Sciences within the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. At GW, Fitzgerald served as a senator in the Student Government Association. Fitzgerald also acted as Operations Coordinator for the Career Expo, playing a key role in organizing the event and connecting students with employers. Fitzgerald also co-chaired the Mental Health Assembly, where he advocated for strengthening mental health services on campus.

Fitzgerald re-established peer-to-peer support services, pushed for guaranteed wellness days in course syllabi, and plans to host a mental health resource fair. Committed to promoting financial equity, he worked closely with organizations to improve their financial processes and removed rules that took funds away from them.

In his personal life, Fitzgerald has a pet guinea pig back home! For dinner, his to-go-to food is pasta. In his free time, you'll find him going to Lerner gym for a run, exploring historical monuments, or just hanging out with friends.

As President, Ethan is focusing on students' physical, mental, and reproductive health, expanding options and hours within GW facilities, and adding student voting power to the Board of Trustees.
